Hello and Welcome to Muck Tavern!

Chef Robert Ferguson came from humble beginnings. Born and raised in Belle Glade, Florida, he is the baby boy of five siblings. He spent most of his time in his grandmother’s kitchen, where his love for seafood began. She was constantly cooking new savory seafood dishes for large family gatherings. His Jamaican grandfather was a butcher and influenced his love and understanding of different meats. He was inspired by how food can tell a story and convey cultural ideas, as well as bring people together. His current position as Head Chef at Muck Tavern Restaurant reflects his dedication to nourishing food as well as his heritage. Robert received his undergraduate degree from Georgia State University and was a member of the inaugural football team. He then attended and graduated from Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Institute. He has worked in cold production, as a line cook, lead cook, and then started working as junior sous chef at Polaris Fine Dining and Sway Southern Kitchen in Atlanta, GA, where they serve a la carte. These positions helped him learn to assemble dishes and work as part of a team to keep up with fast orders coming into the kitchen. He also worked as sous chef at the Broward Health Medical Facility. He especially excelled in the art of cooking seafood mastering a flavored profile. Working as part of a large culinary team helped sharpen his communication as well as leadership skills. The skills he has gained throughout his journey has allowed him to make his jump to Head Chef at Muck Tavern Restaurant in Pahokee, Florida. He creates his own recipes and has a strong influence on the menu, which combines the traditional Jamaican and seafood dishes of his past, with new southern style cuisines. In his spare time, Robert enjoys fishing, spending time with family and friends, and caring for his dogs, Luna and Hurricane. Robert also really enjoys traveling, which continues to inspire his creativity and love for food. Every meal that he creates reflects these values, providing not only excellent taste, but also nourishment for the soul.
